MEP Announces RMB 354 million for Pollutant Reduction Project

24 December 2013, the MEP announced the second batch of government funds, RMB 354 million, for the major pollutant reduction project. The project focuses on four pollutants (to air and water): COD, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.

The fund will be split between central and local needs, RMB 104 million and RMB 250 million respectively.

The MEP said the country’s focus on the supervision of pollution control is important. Currently there are 32 provincial environmental monitoring stations and 329 municipal environmental monitoring stations.
