Hubei Deliberates New Water Pollution Prevention Regulations

24 September 2013. Hubei province is currently deliberating new water pollution prevention and control regulations, which would include a daily based penalty (RMB 10,000 per day) for polluters.

For unapproved newly set or changed sewage outflow, there will be a penalty above RMB 50,000 and under RMB100,000; for deliberately delayed, concealed or omitted information disclosure after a pollution accident, there will be a penalty above RMB 50,000 and under RMB 500,000. If the guilty party didn’t stop water pollution after the initial warning or punishment from the Environmental Bureau, there will be an additional daily penalty of RMB 10,000.
