30 December 2013, MEP released a blacklist of 18 pharmaceutical companies illegally emitting wastewater.  The MEP conducted inspections at 178 pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and 7 pharmaceutical manufacturing sewage treatment facilities across 13 provinces.

Local MEP departments will decide on punishment for violators – which may include fines and cease of production orders.
