72 Companies Named & Shamed in MEP Polluter Blacklist

14 October 2013, MEP released a new blacklist of 72 key companies that had been found guilty of committing environmental violations during the MEP’s supervision this year (until 31st August). In total over 320,000 companies in 20 provinces were inspected, with 2,483 violations being discovered and punished.

These companies were from a wide array of industries including: Mining; butteries, leather tanning, electroplating and pharmaceuticals. The spread of these 72 companies were as follows:

  • Shanxi 9
  • Heilongjiang 7
  • Gansu 7
  • Xinjiang 6
  • Guangxi 5
  • Inner Mongolia 4
  • Fujian 4
  • Jiangxi 4
  • Shandong 4
  • Yunnan 4
  • Shaanxi 4
  • Guizhou 3
  • Liaoning 2
  • Hubei 2
  • Hainan 2
  • Chongqing 2
  • Zhejiang 1
  • Hunan 1
  • Guangdong 1

It would appear the government is getting serious about punishing polluters, as this new list includes some big names and State Owned Enterprises.
