The Redress Forum 2014: Future of Fashion

13 January, 2014 - 14 January, 2014

The Redress Forum 2014

The Redress Forum 2014 is a two-day seminar in Hong Kong that asks ‘What is the future of the fashion industry?’

Over the last 10 years, we have heard much ‘noise’ about the need for sustainability in the fashion  industry. During this, we have witnessed a wide range of more sustainable fashion manufacturing and product development ideas and practices emerge around the world. But are the same drivers that brought us to this point today still steering us forwards? Today, when it comes to sustainability, we have a better-informed fashion industry and consumer, all of whom want long-term, commercially-viable and impactful sustainable solutions. But how do we get there?

The Redress Forum will explore the challenges and opportunities faced by Asian and European designers, manufacturers and retailers as they strive to embrace more environmentally sustainable practices to discover the new drivers determining the road ahead.

The Redress Forum is organised by Redress, with its major sponsor being Create Hong Kong, in collaboration with Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC). It will be held alongside The EcoChic Design Award 2013 Grand Final and during Hong Kong Fashion Week.

China Water Risk’s Debra Tan is a speaker on the panel: The future of fashion.

Sustainable fashion, like the fashion industry at large, is driven by economic, environmental  and social factors. As we start 2014, what developments lie ahead? In this session fashion industry experts will share their sustainability predictions for the future of the fashion industry and discuss what drivers will change in the industry and predict the road ahead.

• What were the main trends in 2013? What was their driving force?
• What are the sustainability trend predictions in 2014?
• What drives trends in sustainability? What drives the adoption of more sustainable
practices in the fashion industry?
• What challenges will the fashion industry face in the future?
